Dr. DeRienzia Johnson
Our Pastor, Dr. DeRienzia Johnson was born the son of Alice Johnson on August 14, 1970, in Sandersville, Georgia. There, he was reared by his mother and grandparents, Mr. Herbert and Mrs. Earnestine Johnson. It is very evident that he grew up in a Christian home environment with strong religious beliefs. He and his wife, Mrs. Vernice Lashawn Johnson, a native of Macon, Georgia, come to us from Macon. They are the proud, proud parents of their sixteen-year-old son, Joshua.
Pastor Johnson is a graduate of Washington County High School. He attended Clark Atlanta University where he earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Religion and Philosophy with a minor in Political Science. His Master of Divinity degree in Pastoral Care was earned from the Interdenominational Theological Center at Morehouse School of Religion in Atlanta, GA. In 2017, he received his Doctorate from Liberty University.
Pastor Johnson was licensed to preach the gospel by Dr. Orlando K. Winters (now deceased) at the Mt. Moriah Baptist Church in Atlanta and ordained by Rev. Marlin Harris at the New Life Baptist Church, also in Atlanta.
Prior to accepting the call to Pastor Greater New Hope, his most recent pastoral assignment was at Bethesda Baptist Church in Americus, GA. His skills and knowledge have also been utilized in supporting positions assisting churches and community organizations in many different areas as needed.
Pastor Johnson is a young, energetic Pastor with a vision; a vision to provide opportunities to accept, help and make life better for ALL people. He has the ability to make the scripture “come alive” in his teaching and preaching. He is very personable, inclusive and transparent in interacting with the Greater New Hope Church Family. We are experiencing tremendous growth in Bible Study and Sunday morning worship attendance.
